Admission requirements in to college of Nursing

Before you submitted the form, think of one important part, that is your senior secondary school certificate (SSCE), student must have
credits in West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO) and National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) these are recognized by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and Nigerian college of Nurses does.

The current approved entry requirement is five (5) O’level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two (2) sitting. Thay is what the NMCN require for example during my admission I used WAEC result, I have complete credits that NMCN liked, ENGLISH B, PHYSICS C, CHEMISTRY C, MATHEMATICS A and BIOLOGY C.

Entrance exam and Interview after you submitted the admission form.

Like me that have fulfilled the requirements above, after like 5 days I got their messages that I was invited for entrance exam.

The same Thing with you wait for the school management you applied for admission, they will either message you call you or even shortlisted you, within this period stay alert. When to invite you for entrance exam Attend the Entrance exam.

Candidates who are successful with entrance exam will be invited to attend an Oral Interview.

After the Interview, Successful candidate will be shortlisted. Then proceed with their registration into Nursing science program at the academic office of the COLLEGE OF NURSING, SCIENCES that he applied to.

To successfully pass the entrance exam and oral interview read all the 5 science subjects mentioned, and current affairs.

After successful registration, the Nursing study begins.

In your first year, you will learn introductory part of the Nursing science so stick to some subjects including anatomy and physiology, foundation of nursing understand all units, pharmacology and psychology, other important subjects include English, Chemistry, Physics and Computer science are essential but in the second year you will not see them.

However, you will go through certain series of clinical experiences, the college will be teaching nursing foundation in this first year, you have two exams here called Introductory exam and post introductory exam. Throughout the first year if you are successful passed exams you will move to class 2.

Study hard in year two of college of Nursing science

Now you are almost have of the journey, you will be visiting hospital regularly, attending practical exams more in the hospital and school’s clinical rooms, the college is preparing you to sit for intermediate exam, when tou pass this exam you will move to class 3.

The final year in the college of Nursing

Students who made it up to this level is doing farewell to the college, as it is year 3 the year of final exam with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. You will go for little rural clinical experience posting and psychiatric experience posting.

This you need to write two exams, hospital exam and council exam. Hospital exam is more of preparing you to write council exam, because it has the same structure with the council, the NMCN Council exam is the final exam, and when you passed the exam you are good to go.

After graduation from the college of Nursing in Nigeria

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria will register your name in the the list of approved nurses in Nigeria and will give you license to practice as a nurse.
